A Message From Councillor Steve Ring
Just over 12 months ago I returned to Council after the resignation of former Councillor Deanna Goodsell. I stood in the count back election because I was dissatisfied with the performance of our Council and its Administration particularly with respect to the rate rise.
I believe that I have made my presence felt in the chamber where I am content to play devils advocate and question everything that is tabled. I vote according to my conscience, research and what I believe to be in the best interest of our community.
I have selected a team that I believe is a good cross section of our community and everyone’s details will be added to this page as time permits.
The only promise that we will make to our community is that:
If one or more my team is elected we will act with integrity, vote as individuals and make decisions that we consider to be in the best interest of our community.
You may not always agree with the decisions that we make but they will based on research, asking questions and listening to community members. We are committed to always making time to listen and talk with community.
Our vision for the next four years
Candidates standing for this election should not only table their policies but their vision for our community moving forward. What we can look forward to by 2029:
- The Local Evolving Economy Plan has been reviewed, revised and is delivering positive outcomes for our community.
- The Foundations, Portland is a hive of activity with up to 200 blocks of land sold and construction of houses underway, a sustainable commercial use of the historic precinct has been successfully implemented
- Greenspot has successfully rezoned its site, the Shell battery has been completed and work is commencing on the construction of several new businesses. Civil engineering works are underway to develop a significant new housing estate.
- All pavers in Main Street Lithgow have been replaced with new concrete footpaths. New boutique outlets are now operating successfully.
- Upgrades to the Gardens of Stone State Conservation Area have been completed and have had a significant impact on growing commercial tourism opportunities in our community.
- Council have successfully enhanced their customer service role and are actively engaging with our community.
- The Wolgan Road is nearing completion and residents and businesses have been provided all necessary support by Council.
